In what ways do your life philosophy and treatment philosophy overlap?
My purpose is to protect and preserve life, more specifically, to support others in learning how to weather and move through challenges, realizing their capacity to endure and enjoy life. This led me to a variety of jobs and trainings before my current role: lifeguard, EMT and disaster response, mathematics and academic success professor, youth coach and juvenile justice diversion program counselor, and participating in undergrad and graduate level research. To me, all these diverse roles were about problem-solving and empowerment.

Work HistoryGrowing up, I always wondered about the people around me: how they make sense of and navigate the internal and external worlds. I had a Navy Corpsman and a Schoolteacher as parents, so I learned from a young age that people are strong and capable, and can be messy but will excel given the right tools. I like pretty much anyone who is even somewhat motivated to figure things out but tend to gravitate towards working with our protectors: Military and First Responders. My career path has included: overseas military installation and Veterans Affairs, inpatient addictions, community clinics, and disaster response counseling. I lean into trauma-focused CBT, ACT, MI, DBT, with an overall client-centered and strengths-based approach.
