Get To Know Me
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
My own journey and challenges and the therapists and teachers who have helped me along the way have been the inspiration for my love of this profession.
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
I think that the greatest gifts I can bring to your care are my deep sense of compassion, and my many, many years of experience, both professionally as a therapist and personally as a client. As you can probably see, I am honest and direct, loyal, committed, curious, and I know that allowing me to get to know you and help you through the rough spots is a the greatest of honors.

Work HistoryI first obtaiined my Bachelors in Liberal Studies at Oregon State in 1975. I played pro golf for a while after that in my ‘20’s. In 1979 I got my Master’s in Rehab Counseling at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and started off working in programs for Substance Abuse and helping families recover there. I returned to my home town, San Diego, in 1982 and went to work for Sharp Healthcare, building outpatient programs and treating individuals and family members injured by alcoholism and drug addictions. In 1986 I obtained my Ph.D. In Clinical Psychology, shortly after that was licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist, and began a private practice along with continuing my program work. My private practice and ongoing training continued into a love of relationship therapy, post trauma recovery treatment, and very simply assisting individuals and families in alleviating their suffering and creating the fulfilling lives they truly desire
