Education
Southeastern Louisiana University, Master of Education, Counseling Education, 2012 — I received a Master of Education in Counseling Education. I completed practicum at Southeastern's counseling center in which I counseled college students. I also completed my internship at Springfield Middle School, which led to my five year career as a school counselor.
Southeastern Louisiana University, Bachelor of Arts, Social Work, 2007 — I received a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work. I participated and completed an internship in which I worked with Domestic violence survivors. I also have writings in The Pick, which displays writings from undergraduates.
Work HistoryI have substantial work experience as a counselor. I worked as a Domestic Violence Survivor advocate which really allowed me to develop person centered skills and relate to my clients at their pace and meet them where they are. I also worked as a Mental Health Professional with a Mental Health Rehab Agency and as a School Counselor for five years in which I employed cognitive behavioral techniques and solution focused interventions to allow children and adults to explore how their thoughts, feelings and actions influence their behaviors and decisions. Working as a College and Career Coach allowed me to use solution focused and person centered skills to help high school students become knowledgeable about what their options were for the future and to make decisions for the future. My work as a Utilization Reviewer allowed me to work with providers by advocating for the client to ensure that they receive the best care. My current work as a Behavioral Health Clinical Liaison allows me to do what I love which is collaborate with providers to make sure that they are supported and that the clients have the best possible outcomes for success in treatment.
