What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
I do not fit in the category of therapists who just sit and stare at you. I want to engage in back-and-forth conversations as we work together.
It is a main priority of mine to be comfortable while providing and receiving therapy.. So if you want to color, fidget, pace, listen to music, etc. during our sessions together, more power to you. I will likely be fidgeting, coloring, or doing some other craft while we have sessions together.
I pride myself on being flexible with therapy. If you tell me you don't want to focus on a specific subject during a session.. Cool.. Let's talk about something you do want to talk about. Therapy is about your agenda, not mine. I will help you focus on growth and progress.. But it's you who decides what direction we go.
What does a first session with you look like?
First sessions with me consist of me asking a LOT of questions about you, your experiences, and what brings you to therapy. It's important for me to learn about you and try to understand what has made you who you are before we start working toward your goals. I'm going to ask about your past experiences.. But if you don't want to focus on those experiences moving forward, that's fine.. It still helps me to understand what you have gone through.
How do you determine therapy goals with clients? What does that process look like?
Therapy goals are completely up to the client. I will make suggestions based off of the information that I have gathered about the client, but if the client does not want to work on those things, then they aren't goals. If client's don't have any buy-in to their goals, then nothing will change.
[This can be especially frustrating to parents/ guardians of kiddos and teens who provide me with topics of concern that the client does not want to work on. I will discuss such subjects with the client and pros of working on those subjects, but I cannot and will not force a client to work on something they don't want to work on. It is important for the parents/ guardians to know that this is nothing against them.. It's just not how therapy works.]

Work HistoryI have been working with children since I first started babysitting at the age of 12. Starting at the age of 15, I had the unique opportunity to work with my sister, during my summers throughout high-school, in the behavioral health field with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum disorder, amongst other difficulties. I learned so much about working with children from my sister and other professionals who worked for her.
I pursued an undergraduate degree in Psychology and, immediately after, continued to work with my sister as a Behavioral Therapist. Shortly after, I decided to pursue a Masters degree in Professional Counseling. While I worked toward my Masters degree, I worked in a variety of positions at the Bradley Center, a Trauma-based Residential Treatment Facility for children and adolescents. I started as a direct care staff member and worked up to the Assistant Clinical Director position (and spent a short period of time as Interim Clinical Director).
After receiving my license in professional counseling, I then obtained some experience at a Crisis Response Team before I moved into providing outpatient therapy services through LifeStance Health. I began working at LifeStance Health in 2020 and continue to provide services through them while establishing my own private practice, Realm of Recovery, LLC.
