Education
The University of Texas at San Antonio, Master of Arts, Community Counseling, 2014 — I earned my Master’s degree in Community Counseling from The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), where I received comprehensive training in mental health assessment, counseling techniques, and multicultural competence. During my graduate studies, I completed clinical internships at several diverse and impactful organizations: Sarbia Family Counseling Center, where I worked with individuals and families on a range of emotional and relational concerns. Family Violence Prevention and Intervention Services, where I supported clients affected by domestic violence, helping them navigate trauma, rebuild self-esteem, and find safety. Haven for Hope, a transformative experience in which I provided therapeutic support to individuals experiencing homelessness, addressing both immediate mental health needs and long-term goals for stability and well-being. These experiences shaped my commitment to serving people from all walks of life with empathy, respect, and evidence-based care. They also reinforced my belief in the importance of safe, supportive spaces where healing can begin.
Our Lady of the Lake University, Bachelor of Arts, Psychology, 2011 — I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas, with concentrations in both Pre-Counseling and Research. My academic training provided a strong foundation in psychological theory, therapeutic techniques, and evidence-based practices. As part of my undergraduate program, I completed an internship with the Bexar County Jail’s Match/Patch program. In this role, I worked with low-risk incarcerated individuals to support and facilitate contact visits with their children. After each visit, I co-led group therapy sessions to help participants process their emotions and reflect on their experiences. This deeply meaningful work strengthened my belief in the importance of connection, healing, and the potential for change—even in the most challenging circumstances. This experience continues to inform my compassionate, client-centered approach to therapy today.
Work HistoryOver the course of my career, I’ve had the privilege of working in a wide variety of mental health settings, each one strengthening my ability to meet clients where they are—with compassion, knowledge, and effective support. I began my professional journey with the Center for Health Care Services, serving Bexar County, Texas, as a Mobile Crisis Outreach Clinician. In this role, I responded to mental health crises involving children, adolescents, and adults—often in collaboration with law enforcement and first responders. I also provided mental health training to first responders, helping build understanding and safety during crisis situations. Later, I transitioned into a Case Manager role at the Center, working closely with children and their families. My work focused on providing parenting support, skills training, and medication education—helping families navigate challenges and build stronger, healthier relationships. For over 10 years, I worked at Laurel Ridge Treatment Center, conducting intake psychiatric evaluations for individuals across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, adults, veterans, and active-duty military. My responsibilities included crisis counseling, safety planning, treatment planning, and making appropriate referrals for outpatient and inpatient care. This intensive work gave me deep insight into acute mental health needs and the tools to help clients stabilize and move forward. For the past five years, I’ve provided online therapy for adolescents and adults in virtual settings. This experience has allowed me to support clients in a flexible, accessible format—meeting them in the comfort and privacy of their own space, while maintaining a strong therapeutic connection. These diverse roles have shaped my approach as a therapist: practical, empathetic, and focused on helping clients build real-life skills for emotional health and resilience.
