What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
When my son was almost 15 years old, he was diagnosed with cancer. It took 2 1/2 years in and out of hospitals, before he was in remission. It took a stem cell transplant, for him to complete remission. This traumatic experience, caused me to re-evaluate my priorities in life. Before my son's cancer, my primary goal in life, was to climb the corporate ladder. After the experience, I became convinced, that I needed pursue a career that helped me to pay forward, the amazing blessing from God, of my son's life. Therapy became my way, of helping people that were suffering from similar mental traumas.

Work HistoryCounseling is my second career. Early in my career, I worked primarily with children (including sexually abused children) for close to 7 years. At the completion of my experience with children, I started working for a non-profit, teaching court-ordered Parenting, and Anger Management. I subsequently offered to teach Parenting classes for free in a Florida jail, which led to a counseling offer. I provided counseling and managed a men's and woman's drug program in that and 2 other jails, for 4 1/2 years. Following that, I worked for 4 1/2 years, as a Clinical Team Leader, for a 72 hour mandatory (Suicidal, Homicidal, and individuals with severe mental health issues) psychiatric facility, followed by several years working for a commercial mental health practice. For the last 3 years, I have been employed by the largest Telehealth provider, and managed my own practice (peaceorpain.org).
