What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
When I was a teenager, I met a Program Director of a drop-in teen program in New York City. Don was the first social worker I ever met. His kindness, generosity and warmth created an environment of inclusion and acceptance that I have never felt before. Don's validation of my thoughts and feelings was so empowering that I really began recognizing the need for social justice... all at the tender age of sixteen! I aspire to be a "Don" to others someday...
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
I do enjoy humor and so whenever appropriate, I like to infuse some lightheartedness in some sessions. Laughter is the language of the soul.

Licensure
- New York, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, 078250
Education
Columbia University, Master of Social Work, Advanced Clinical Practice, 2003
I studied Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) guided by the teachings of Marsha Linehan. I also studied group therapy practices by Dr. Irvin Yalom.
Work History
I graduated with my Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from Columbia University in 2003. However, prior to my graduate studies, I have very humble beginnings working as a caseworker in foster care and supporting children and families impacted by trauma and substance abuse. After obtaining my MSW, I became an evaluator for children and adolescents in NYC Family Courts and then transitioned to Clinical Social Work where I began treating individual and families in outpatient community based clinics. I support and welcome clients from all walks of life and embrace diversity and inclusion. I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness. However, I do not necessarily subscribe to a "one size fits all" approach to treatment. We are each unique and so should be your journey of self discovery and healing.
