Education
Grand Valley State University, Master of Social Work, Clinical, 2016 — My education provided a strong foundation in clinical social work, emphasizing evidence-based practice, advocacy, cultural responsiveness, and a strengths-based approach to supporting individuals and families. In addition to my academic training, my professional experience has allowed me to work in both school and healthcare settings, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to support children, adolescents, adults, and families experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and life challenges. My clinical approach integrates evidence-based interventions with a compassionate, client-centered perspective, recognizing that each person's experiences, culture, strengths, and goals are unique.
Work HistoryMy experience in mental health spans more than 10 years and includes working in both school and healthcare settings. These experiences have shaped my approach to therapy and strengthened my ability to support people through a wide range of challenges. As a school social worker, I worked closely with children, adolescents, families, teachers, and special education teams to support students experiencing anxiety, emotional and behavioral challenges, difficulties with social skills, executive functioning, self-esteem, and major life transitions. Working in schools gave me a deeper understanding of how emotional well-being affects every aspect of life, including relationships, academic performance, confidence, and daily functioning. My experience in healthcare expanded my work with individuals facing anxiety, depression, stress, adjustment difficulties, and other mental health concerns. Working alongside physicians, nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals reinforced the importance of collaborative, whole-person care. These experiences helped shape my therapeutic approach, which is compassionate, culturally responsive, strengths-based, and focused on helping clients build practical skills while creating meaningful and lasting change. Today, through Nexus Therapy LLC, I provide 100% virtual therapy in English and Spanish, creating an accessible and supportive space where clients can feel heard, understood, and empowered.
