What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I originally planned to become an environmental attorney — I was passionate about justice, systems change, and protecting the Earth. But as I networked with attorneys in the field, many of them reflected that I might be better suited to becoming a therapist. At first, I resisted the idea, but after enrolling in a few psychology courses, something shifted. I began to understand that my deepest drive wasn’t just to fight systems from the outside, but to help people heal from the inside out, especially those impacted by systemic violence and intergenerational trauma.
As I continued studying, I realized that therapy could be just as radical and transformative as law — but more intimate, relational, and soul-centered. I was drawn to the deep, personal work of healing — especially work that reconnected people to themselves, to community, and to the natural world.
What does success look like in therapy? How will a client know that they are making progress?
To me, success in therapy isn't about becoming “healed” in the way it’s often marketed — as if healing is a finish line or a product you can buy. That framing keeps people chasing an illusion of wholeness that assumes they’re broken. I don’t believe we’re broken. I believe we’re in process.
In my view, healing is about radical acceptance — learning to sit with the full truth of your mind, body, and spirit with compassion and discernment, rather than judgment. It’s about becoming aware of the samskaras — the deep grooves and repeating patterns of suffering — and gently working your way out of them, again and again.
Progress doesn’t always feel good. It’s not always visible. Sometimes it’s just a subtle shift: more space between a trigger and your reaction, more softness toward your inner world, more awareness of where you end and others begin. Success looks like non-attachment to perfection, and a deeper sense of presence in your life.
The path isn’t linear — it spirals. We revisit old wounds, but with new eyes. We cultivate the witness, the self who can hold our experience with kindness. We begin to see that suffering often comes not from the pain itself, but from our resistance to it.
In this way, therapy becomes less about fixing the self, and more about liberating the self — remembering our wholeness, even in this late capitalist mess.

Education
Lewis and Clark Graduate School, Master of Arts, Marriage and Family Therapy, 2021
Work HistoryMy path into psychology has been rooted in holistic healing, community support, and trauma-informed care. Before entering clinical practice, I spent several years working as a yoga instructor, spiritual life coach, and Reiki master, offering somatic and energetic healing to individuals seeking alignment, clarity, and nervous system regulation. These modalities continue to inform my integrative approach to mental health.
During my undergraduate studies, I worked on an editorial team and provided direct crisis support at a crisis center in Riverside, California, deepening my commitment to trauma-informed advocacy and care for marginalized communities.
In 2021, I completed my clinical internship with the Victim Support Unit of Washington County, supporting survivors of violence and trauma through crisis intervention, psychoeducation, and systems advocacy. After licensure, I opened a private practice and also worked with clients at Insight Northwest Counseling in Portland, specializing in trauma recovery, identity development, and relational work through a culturally responsive and feminist lens.
In 2024, I completed an herbal apprenticeship through the Gaia School of Healing, where I studied plant spirit medicine, folk herbalism, and Earth-based healing traditions. I began integrating herbal care into my work as a life coach and through mutual aid initiatives, offering plant-based support and education focused on reproductive justice, nervous system healing, and ancestral reconnection. This herbal integration has become a cornerstone of my commitment to non-extractive, community-rooted models of care.
Currently, I am in the process of opening a second practice on the East Coast, while continuing to serve clients in Portland, Oregon. My therapeutic approach blends depth psychology, narrative therapy, somatic work, herbalism, and mindfulness-based practices, with a commitment to anti-oppressive, accessible, and relational care for individuals and communities impacted by trauma and systemic harm.
