Education
La Salle University, Doctorate of Psychology, Clinical Psychology, 2007 — A PsyD, or Doctor of Psychology, is a professional doctoral degree in psychology that focuses on the practical application of psychological knowledge and research-based mental health services. I earned my PsyD from La Salle University. La Salle University's Clinical Psychology PsyD Program follows the practitioner-scholar model of training and thereby emphasizes the integration of science and practice. While I chose to concentrate my studies in the area of General Clinical Practice, my dissertation, research activities, and clinical field placements allowed me to develop specialties in the areas of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), evidence-based treatments, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, and the treatment of veterans.
Work HistoryI am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 18 years of experience applying evidence-based practices (EBPs) to diverse populations with a variety of symptoms and presentations. I specialize in providing compassionate therapy for individuals dealing with PTSD, trauma, and stress, and am skilled in offering trauma-informed care while understanding the nuances of veteran and military culture. Other areas of expertise include the treatment of anxiety, phobias, panic, insomnia, depression, suicidal ideation/self-harm, anger management, and substance use disorders. I have received specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), CBT therapist training, and in the treatment of PTSD. I am certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE). Furthermore, I am experienced in utilizing CBT for PTSD, Written Exposure Therapy (WET), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depression (CBT-D), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Substance Use Disorders (CBT-SUD), Panic Control Treatment (PCT), Relapse Prevention Therapy (RPT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET).
As part of my doctoral training, I completed a clinical internship at the Coatesville VA Medical Center, working with veterans as a general practitioner. Following my doctoral training, I completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, under the mentorship of Dr. Aaron T. Beck. Highlights of my fellowship included serving as a CBT Therapist Trainer for the Beck Initiative Training series and taking on roles as a Research Therapist and Project Director of clinical trials that evaluated the efficacy of CBT. In addition to my private practice work, I serve as a Staff Psychologist and Team Leader of a nationally recognized Residential PTSD Program at the Coatesville VA Medical Center. Balancing both clinical and administrative responsibilities, my duties encompass overseeing therapeutic programming, managing a multidisciplinary treatment team, conducting diagnostic interviews, and delivering evidence-based individual and group PTSD treatment to foster personal growth within a diverse veteran population.
