What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
My aunt developed Alzheimer's Disease, and I became aware of the pain and loss that families experience. At that time, I decided to return to school and become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker so I could help other families dealing with issues related to dementia.

Education
California State University, Long Beach, Master of Social Work, Elder population, Phase of Life issues, 2001 — I have been working with the dementia population for over twenty years and I am very familiar with the stressors and losses incurred by family caregivers and the person who has been diagnosed.
My Master's Thesis was based on my studies of family caregivers of persons with dementia.
Using a Cognitive Behavioral/Brief Therapy approach, I help individuals gain clarity about their individual circumstances, seek out strengths they have utilized during difficult times in the past.
Together, we develop a solution-focused Plan to move forward, adjusting to a new Phase of Life, and planning for the future.
