How has your particular field of specialization evolved in recent years and how has that impacted your work?
My particular area of passion is in the interplay between psychology and physiology and how this influences behaviors. Over the years partly because I came to this field from a mostly medical background, I was never satisfied with the traditional model of care. I saw people being over-medicated and improperly medicated by well-meaning providers who had only a part of the answer. I see, accept and understand the value of medications in psychological care, but as we are seeing even more clearly, a neurobiolgical, nutrition and food science-based, lifestyle interventions shaped model of care provides us with the best options to help human beings to function at their optimal level, and become the best they can be.

Education
AIU, Doctorate of Philosophy, Psychology, 2021 — This is my 4th graduate degree. I hold graduate degrees in Applied sociology, Counseling with a minor in psychometrics and addiction counseling, and in human and organizational systems (I/O Psychology).
Work HistoryMy work in the field of applied psychology began after my military service ended. At that point I was thinking of medical school, given that I had been trained as a Medic in the Army. My training and love of the martial arts also influenced how my work would be manifested as well. My journey in the medical systems took a different path, as my first job post college was as a case manager in foster care. I later worked as an intensive case manager for children and youth with special needs. And I served as a supervisor and administrator in several social and human services organizations. Through these opportunities I saw the need for more people with my unique face and background to provide care to the people whose lives we impacted on with our techniques and technologies. Somehow in all this I also worked as a college instructor, including serving as adjunct faculty and visiting lecturer at several colleges and universities in Chicagoland and the suburbs. My work with families impacted by addiction spurred me to obtain credentials in that area as well.
