Get To Know Me
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
My path to becoming a therapist grew out of both my professional experiences and my personal journey. Long before I became a counselor, I spent years teaching, coaching, mentoring, and supporting people through life's challenges. I found that what I enjoyed most wasn't simply sharing information—it was helping people discover their own strength, work through difficult seasons, and realize that change was possible.
Like many people, I've experienced profound loss and unexpected life transitions that reshaped my perspective. Those experiences deepened my compassion and reinforced my belief that healing doesn't mean forgetting what you've been through—it means learning how to move forward while honoring your story. They also inspired my passion for helping others navigate grief, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, ADHD, and major life changes with hope and practical support.
I chose this profession because I believe everyone deserves a space where they can be heard without judgment, challenged with kindness, and supported as they grow. My goal is to help clients gain practical tools, build confidence, and create lasting change so they leave therapy feeling more empowered, resilient, and equipped to live the life they want—not just during our sessions, but long after.
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
Here's a version that naturally incorporates your action-oriented approach, which aligns well with the way you've described your practice:
I bring a balance of compassion, honesty, encouragement, and action into the therapy room. My clients often describe me as warm, approachable, and easy to talk to, while also appreciating that I gently challenge them when they feel stuck. I believe growth happens when people feel supported, empowered, and willing to take meaningful steps toward change.
I'm naturally practical and solution-focused, so therapy with me is more than just talking about problems. Together, we'll identify what's keeping you stuck, develop realistic strategies, and put those strategies into action. I frequently incorporate exercises, reflection, and homework between sessions because lasting change happens not only during therapy, but also through practicing new skills in everyday life. My goal is for you to leave each session with greater clarity and something tangible you can begin using right away.
I also believe that healing doesn't have to feel cold or clinical. I bring authenticity, curiosity, and, when appropriate, humor into our work together. I see therapy as a partnership where we'll celebrate your wins, learn from setbacks, and build on your strengths. My hope is that you leave feeling heard, challenged in a supportive way, and confident that you have practical tools to continue growing long after each session ends.
What does a first session with you look like?
The first session is all about getting to know you and understanding what brought you to therapy. I want to hear your story, learn about the challenges you're facing, and understand what you hope will be different as a result of our work together. We'll talk about your background, current concerns, strengths, and the goals you want to achieve. This is also your opportunity to ask questions and decide whether I'm the right fit for you.
My approach is collaborative, so we'll begin identifying patterns, discussing what may be contributing to your current struggles, and creating a plan that feels realistic and meaningful. I believe therapy should provide both insight and direction, so before you leave our first session, we'll identify one or two practical steps you can begin working on right away. I often provide reflection questions, coping strategies, or homework because I believe growth happens between sessions as you apply what we've discussed to your daily life.
Most importantly, my goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself. You don't have to have everything figured out before you arrive. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, grieving, anxious, navigating ADHD, healing from trauma, or facing a major life transition, we'll take it one step at a time. We'll work together at a pace that feels right for you while focusing on meaningful progress and lasting change.

Education
Amberton University, Master of Arts, Professional Counseling, 2023 — My Master of Arts in Professional Counseling provided extensive training in evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, ethics, multicultural counseling, trauma-informed care, and human development across the lifespan. My graduate education emphasized integrating research with practical clinical skills to support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, and other mental health concerns. Through supervised clinical training, I developed experience working with diverse populations while utilizing evidence-based approaches such as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). This foundation allows me to provide compassionate, culturally responsive, and goal-oriented care tailored to each client's unique needs.
Work HistoryLife can be challenging, and you don't have to navigate it alone. Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to walk alongside people during some of the most difficult seasons of their lives. I've worked with individuals in hospitals, community mental health, crisis services, outpatient settings, and private practice, supporting people experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, ADHD, relationship challenges, life transitions, and overwhelming stress. These experiences have shown me that healing isn't one-size-fits-all, and every person's story deserves to be heard with compassion and respect.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years teaching, mentoring, and coaching others. Those experiences shaped the way I approach counseling today. I believe therapy should be a place where you not only feel heard and understood but also leave with practical tools you can use in your everyday life. Together, we'll explore what's been weighing you down, celebrate your strengths, and develop realistic strategies to help you move toward the life you want to create.
My goal is to provide a safe, welcoming space where you can be your authentic self without fear of judgment. Whether you're grieving a loss, healing from painful experiences, learning to manage ADHD, strengthening relationships, or simply trying to find your footing again, I'll meet you where you are. We'll work together at a pace that feels right for you, focusing on meaningful progress, renewed confidence, and helping you build a life that feels more balanced, fulfilling, and true to who you are.
