Work HistoryI was in the middle of my training to become a therapist on September 11th, 2001. Living in New York City, the experience forged a career-long passion for healing trauma of all kinds. I worked in psychiatry at Bellevue Hospital in NYC for over 18 years. It was there, and other urban community mental health agencies, where I developed a deep appreciation of the importance of mental health care. I helped people from every imaginable walk of life, I've held space for just about every kind of issue, and people tend to feel safe talking to me. When I started my own practice, I chose to focus on people struggling with emotions related to difficult past experiences, both large and small, who want to change the way they're living. Personal experience has also played a part. As an adoptee, working with adults who were adopted is a specialty that's near and dear to my heart. And since I've been an artist all my life, when it comes to working with creative, sensitive people: I see you! Our emotions can be overwhelming and difficult for others to understand. That's why I offer a variety of creative, innovative, non-verbal therapy techniques that are as "outside the box" as we are.
