Under Clinical Supervision
Emily Sanchez, Licensed Master Social Worker, 117745 is practicing under the supervision of Jamie Glass (New York, LCSW, 096558) at Glass Psychotherapy.
Please, note: A clinician listed as being “clinically supervised” is completing clinical hours toward their licensure. They have one or more fully licensed clinical supervisors that often have special training to become supervisors. They consult with their supervisor(s) on all of their cases, which means that, when working with them, you are getting the time and expertise of multiple therapists in your treatment.
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
My personality plays a central role in how I approach therapy. I show up as a real person and take a casual and approachable stance in therapy. While I take our work seriously, I believe that therapy can and should include moments of humor and lightness. I believe that my authenticity in sessions helps clients feel safe to bring their true selves into the space as well.
If there was one thing you wish people knew about the therapy experience who might be hesitant to try it, what would that be?
It makes total sense that people are hesitant to try therapy, and I think a large part of that is that the experience can feel a little bit mysterious if you've never done it before. While there are so many things I wish were common knowledge about therapy that aren't, I will just list these two: 1. Therapy isn’t about being ‘broken’ or ‘crazy’—it’s simply a place to explore yourself with someone who’s there to listen and help you navigate whatever’s on your mind, at your own pace. The therapeutic relationship is unlike any other in your life -- many people feel an immediate sense of relief just from talking openly in a way they can not do with anyone else in their lives. 2. Finding the right therapist is a bit like dating—you need to feel a natural connection. For a great therapeutic relationship to work, there should be a chemistry between you and your therapist, a sense that they ‘get’ you. Sometimes, that connection is there right away; other times, it isn’t. But that’s okay! Therapy is a space just for you, and if the first therapist doesn’t feel like the right fit, it’s perfectly fine to try again with someone else. Starting therapy is a brave step toward understanding yourself better, and finding a therapist who makes you feel comfortable and seen can make all the difference.
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
It’s important for someone to know that working with me is a collaborative, authentic experience. Our sessions will be a safe, non-judgmental space where you don’t need to have it all figured out. I’m here to guide the process, and we’ll take it one step at a time, starting from wherever you are—even if those steps feel small. I’m here to support you through the hard work, with a balance of compassion, directness, and a sense of warmth. Above all, my goal is to create a space where you feel seen, supported, and free to explore who you are.

Education
NYU Silver School of Social Work, Master of Social Work, Clinical Practice, 2022
I chose to pursue a degree in social work as it provides a unique foundation for psychotherapy that combines clinical expertise with a holistic, person-in-environment approach. Unlike other mental health disciplines, social work emphasizes not only the mental and emotional well-being of individuals but also addresses the social and systemic factors that may affect them. Social workers are trained to consider the complex interplay of relationships, environment, and life experiences, making them particularly attuned to issues like trauma, family dynamics, and socioeconomic stressors. This perspective allows us to provide comprehensive, compassionate support that empowers clients to navigate both personal challenges and the external forces impacting their lives.
Work History
After earning a Master’s Degree in Social Work from New York University, I had the opportunity to work as a clinician in both mental health clinics and shelters for those experiencing homelessness. These positions allowed me to grow as a therapist while working with a diverse set of clients, enabling me to tailor my approach to meet each client’s unique needs.
