In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
I don't think I have a choice but to use myself in my clinical work. I tend to be interactive, use humor when appropriate, and always try to avoid "therapy talk" when with clients.
If you could pick one movie or book that influenced your approach to therapy, what would it be and why?
I think the therapist in Ordinary People is the best therapist ever put on a screen.
In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
I'm a parent of two kids, so that has to have an impact. I also have a great deal of experience in a leadership role in a corporate setting, which I have used to assist clients with career concerns. I have also been in tons of my own therapy, which I believe should be a requirement for anyone practicing.

Work HistoryYou are more than a diagnosis. When therapy works, it is almost always due to a strong bond between client and therapist. I try to create that connection by focusing not just on symptoms, but on the possible meaning and feelings behind the symptom. Together we will work to discover any repeating patterns of thoughts or behavior that may be getting in the way of you living the life you would like to be living. Through the process of talking with someone with whom you only interact with during the therapy session, insights are developed that lead to greater fufilment in areas such as relationships, career success, and parenting.
