Get To Know Me
In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
My personal experience has had a significant impact on my work because I have experienced some of the same challenges. My own reproductive journey involved a infertility and two miscarriages before being blessed with three children. I've been through the sad, lonely and painful parts of trying to conceive as well as all the good, bad and messy parts of pregnancy, birth and the transition to parenthood. I've developed a passion for behavioral strategies for managing health conditions as I have coped with my own chronic health condition and perimenopause. I know my experience is likely different from yours, but it does provide a window for me to better understand what you are going through. I strive to be the type of therapist I hoped to find at these different life stages - balancing empathy from shared experience with knowledge and tools to make these transitions and challenges easier.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I take a very collaborative, open, and empowering approach in therapy. I work together with each client to set goals for treatment, and put numbers to those goals so we can track progress over time. I balance time to talk about whatever pressing issues you are facing that week with tools and strategies to get you the results you are hoping for. I usually give suggestions for activities or tools to try in between sessions because making changes outside of the therapy session will help you make progress more quickly.

Education
San Francisco State University, Master of Science in Counseling, Marriage, Family and Child Counseling, 2017 — A CACREP accredited program with a strong emphasis on multicultural counseling and Person-Centered Rogerian therapy. My thesis was on applications of Narrative Therapy. The program included two years of supervised clinical internships. The first year was at APA Family Support Services providing therapy for children and teens in Visitacion Valley in San Francisco. The second year was at San Mateo County Behavioral Health serving children and teens in Daly City.
Work HistoryI have over a decade of experience working with adults, teens and children experiencing depression, anxiety, OCD, grief and life transitions. I currently work with adults providing online therapy through my private practice and with Alma and Allminds. I specialize in the transition to parenthood, reproductive grief (pregnancy loss or infertility), and coping with health issues such as PMDD and menopause. At the start of my career I worked with children and teens, and quickly learned that providing support for parents would have a profound impact on the entire family. I was inspired to work with parents in the early stages of parenthood to support families in building a solid foundation for a satisfying and loving family life. My specialty blossomed from there as I saw the challenges of pregnancy loss, infertility and menopause come up again and again for my clients.
