What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
I work best with professionals who are used to performing at a high level but are privately carrying a great deal of pressure. Many of my clients are ambitious, thoughtful, and deeply committed to their careers, relationships, and personal growth. On the outside they are often seen as capable and successful, yet internally they may struggle with overthinking, anxiety, burnout, or feeling like they always have to stay “on.”
I also work with many Black professionals who are navigating the unique pressures that can come with leadership, visibility, and high expectations in their careers.
The clients who tend to benefit most from our work together are people who are reflective, curious about themselves, and open to looking more deeply at the patterns that shape how they think, work, and relate to others.
If you’re a professional who feels constantly “on” or mentally overloaded despite outward success, therapy can offer a space to slow down, reflect, and regain a sense of balance.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
Clients often describe our work as both thoughtful and practical. Our conversations focus on understanding the deeper patterns behind anxiety, stress, and relationship dynamics while also developing ways to respond to challenges more intentionally.
Therapy with me is collaborative. I ask questions, offer perspectives, and help connect the dots between past experiences, current pressures, and the habits that shape how you move through the world. Over time, many clients experience greater clarity, emotional balance, and confidence in handling difficult situations.
My goal is to create a space where you can speak openly, reflect honestly, and gain a deeper understanding of yourself without feeling judged or rushed.
Are there any recurring themes or issues you’ve noticed as you treat people in your area of specialization, and how has this insight guided your approach?
Many of the people I work with are managing high-functioning anxiety. They are successful and dependable, but their minds rarely slow down. They may struggle with chronic overthinking, perfectionism, difficulty relaxing, or feeling like they always have to stay one step ahead.
I also work with clients navigating stress and burnout related to demanding careers, relationship challenges, identity development, and the emotional weight of being in high-responsibility roles.
For many Black professionals, therapy also becomes a space to process experiences connected to race, leadership pressure, and the expectations that can come with being one of the few in professional environments.
My work focuses on helping clients better understand the patterns that keep them feeling mentally overloaded so they can develop a more grounded and sustainable way of living and working.

Work HistoryI am an NYS licensed psychologist who earned my M.A. in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University and my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Fordham University. Over the past decade, I have worked in numerous hospitals and college counseling centers throughout NYC. Dr. Dillon takes an integrative approach to therapy, often working relationally from a feminist and multiculturally-informed lens with clients while incorporating dynamic interventions and evidence-based treatments (i.e., MI, PST, CBT, and DBT).
My areas of expertise involve social justice and advocacy, implicit bias and microaggressions, and diversity, equity, and inclusion – all of which inform his sensitive, curious, collaborative, and conscientious approach to therapy. I specialize in working with individuals and couples who are people of color, immigrants, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community who suffer from depression, anxiety, stress, burnout, relationship difficulties, identity issues, and more.
