Get To Know Me
What does a first session with you look like?
I realize that as you review my personal question list, you may have several questions about me. Selecting which ones to answer was a challenge as they were all thought-provoking. I settled on these three to best describe what it is like work with me (first and ongoing sessions).
In general, those who work with me are often looking to heal wounds from childhood or other traumatic events. They may also be managing anxiety or depression resulting from how that trauma impacts their daily lives. Our first appointment is dedicated to acknowledging this and establishing a safe foundation for our work.
Additionally, our initial meeting serves to ensure we are a good fit. We will explore important areas of your life—such as relationships, hobbies, work, family, and health—while beginning to develop your treatment goals.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Once we have established rapport and developed treatment goals at a pace that feels safe for you, I will begin guiding you toward the changes you are seeking. We will work on increasing your emotional regulation and distress tolerance through guided meditation and skill practice. Additionally, we will focus on improving your interpersonal and occupational relationships. Techniques can include use of EMDR, mindfulness, somatic exercises, relaxation techniques, journaling and cognitive reframing.
Since every therapist’s approach is unique, please note that I do assign exercises for you to practice and review following our meetings.
If you could pick one movie or book that influenced your approach to therapy, what would it be and why?
I often recommend "Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents" by Lindsey Gibson, PsyD. This is one of the top books I suggest to clients, as it effectively describes how family dynamics can impact our behaviors and mental health. It is a particularly helpful resource for those navigating the effects of parental trauma.

Work HistoryI began my career in 2013 at a community mental health facility, where I gained a deep appreciation for the value of trauma-informed care. During that time, I completed my EMDR training to better support clients healing from significant hardships. Additionally, I also worked with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.
I later transitioned to a group practice, where I further honed my trauma specialty. In 2019, I moved into private practice. I continue to enhance my expertise through professional consultations, conferences, and specialized training programs.
