Under Clinical Supervision
Grayson Thompson, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, 136749 is practicing under the supervision of Alo Johnston (California, LMFT, 109429) at Pershing Square Therapy.
Please, note: A clinician listed as being “clinically supervised” is completing clinical hours toward their licensure. They have one or more fully licensed clinical supervisors that often have special training. They consult with their supervisor(s) on all of their cases.
If you could pick one movie or book that influenced your approach to therapy, what would it be and why?
The film, "Good Will Hunting" with Robin Williams and Matt Damon. Minus the obvious boundary crossing (I remember a physical tussle); I think the film was a beautiful introspection on what it feels like to be stuck, going through the motions, and the challenges of initiating change in life. I think it also does a great job of showing how a strong therapeutic alliance can help people address their barriers to change, fears, and presenting challenging/symptoms.
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
I believe in and practice anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and body positive clinical treatment. I believe in work that centers the ability for clients to access freedom and joy. I believe in helping clients access play and humor in their live and in therapy. While Pershing Square Therapy does not accept insurances directly, your insurance may have out-of-network (OON) benefits, which means that they may support the cost of our services. We also offer sliding scale fees for therapy services to the standard rate.
What’s the most profound, insightful, or interesting thing you’ve learned as a mental health professional?

Work History
I currently split my time between a group private practice where I provide telehealth services and a nonprofit mental health organization local to my area providing school-based therapy, community mental health programming, grant management, and trainings. Prior to these current experiences, I have worked at the county level in mental health providing therapy and case management to young people and families impacted by the foster care system and foster-to-adopt systems. I've worked with adults (including couples and families) diagnosed or impacted with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health challenges; most of clients being on the Autism Spectrum and/or neurodiverse. Both of these experiences were in Sonoma County. Prior to Sonoma County, I have provided services in the Bay Area (East Bay and San Francisco) in school-based therapy as well as nonprofit therapy working with teens, adults, couples, and groups.
