What would be important for someone to know about working with you?

I have a laid back, yet direct style that allows you to open up and be vulnerable while also going outside your comfort zone. I often hear from my clients that "I really listen and never forget things" which is so important to me in this work. I try to be authentic and genuine using humor where appropriate while also making space for heavy emotions that are often carried alone until therapy.

In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?

I have a naturally curious and inquisitive nature that is a good fit for this field as it allows me to approach every single client with interest and a desire to understand their struggles. I am a very direct and open person and this translates well with the clients that choose to work with me as they are used to deflecting, avoiding, and being the helper, not the one asking for help.

If there was one thing you wish people knew about the therapy experience who might be hesitant to try it, what would that be?

Therapy is not about fixing a problem or seeking advice. We, as therapists, are not here to tell you what to do or to judge you for past decisions and experiences. So many times, people come into therapy with what they think is "The problem" and it is only the tip of the iceberg as they realize therapy can be so much more. We will seek to increase your understanding of yourself and those around you so that you become the author of your story and can make peace with past chapters. Although therapy is a marathon and not a sprint, it is one that is done with support and a gentle challenging to reassure you that you can get to where you want to be if you are ready to do the work.

Work History

I have worked in many settings across three states. I spent three years in addictions treatment working at a medication assisted treatment facility followed by five years in community mental health, all in SC. In working at the department of mental health, I facilitated PTSD groups for women focusing on healing from trauma as well as carrying a caseload of over 100 clients suffering with a multitude of mental health issues. Upon moving to LA, and subsequently MI, I have specialized in private practice for the past 10 years. I was the director of a large multi-specialty practice where I supervised interns and saw a small caseload of adult clients. In the past four years in MI, I have had a fully virtual practice focusing on high functioning adult clients seeking weekly therapy for anxiety and mood disorders as well as wanting to address life changes by exploring past attachment patterns.
