Dr. Heidi Cox is a licensed clinical psychologist and the founder and director of The Centered Space Psychology. She provides therapy to adults aged 18+ using a warm, collaborative approach which is integrative and holistic. Dr. Cox combines evidence-based practices including mindfulness, somatics, CBT, and DBT rooted in a narrative, psychodynamic understanding. She works to help people improve aspects of their lives that they are inspired to change, to understand themselves better, and to heal from emotional suffering. She believes that a positive therapeutic relationship is at the heart of successful treatment. Dr. Cox specializes in treating postpartum anxiety and depression, reproductive issues, and pregnancy loss. In addition, she works with anxiety, mood disorders, life transitions and relationship issues. She is an advocate of HAES and is LGBTQ+ allied. Dr. Cox received her doctoral degree from Long Island University, Brooklyn where her research focused on psychotherapy and the effects of mindfulness. She received her masters from Teachers College, Columbia University and her postdoctoral fellowship was completed at Pratt Institute Counseling Center with young adult college students. Dr. Cox has received training in many settings including hospitals, postpartum support international, and university counseling centers. Dr. Cox holds a certification in perinatal mental health (PMH-C). She holds maternal mental health certifications from Seleni Institute and Postpartum Support International. Dr. Cox also enjoys supervising doctoral students, cultural experiences, hiking and swimming.
