Get To Know Me
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
I try to blend my personality when appropriate. I am naturally a thoughtful and caring person, but also try to throw in a dash of humor. I am human too and I don't guard against that, because who after all wants an emotionless robot helping you work through some very challenging times in your life.
In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
Part of my journey to becoming a therapist was my own mental health, and complex family dynamics. And while I am in a better spot personally that doesn't mean I forgot what its like to be dealing depression, anxiety and whole bunch of complex emotions that can't be boiled down to a diagnosis. I have been there bought the T-shirt, and hope to understand and help my clients with their unique life experiences as well.
What does a first session with you look like?
We get the "lay of the land." Essential my main goals are to understand what brings you to therapy/coaching and what you hope to gain from the experience. I also get a rough background of your history so I know what has had a part in making who you are and thus better help you.
