Under Clinical Supervision

Jamie Gray, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, 205550 is practicing under the supervision of Jamie Porter (Texas, LMFT-S, 201362) at Eating Recovery Center.

Please, note: A clinician listed as being “clinically supervised” is completing clinical hours toward their licensure. They have one or more fully licensed clinical supervisors that often have special training to become supervisors. They consult with their supervisor(s) on all of their cases, which means that, when working with them, you are getting the time and expertise of multiple therapists in your treatment.

What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

I'm Jamie Gray, mother of five, lover of nature, and owner of Apricity Therapeutic Alliance. As I began the journey of establishing a private practice, I thought for a long time about what message I wanted to share with potential clients. I asked myself questions about my identity, both personally and professionally, and how that identity has led me here–to a career in mental health. When I discovered the word ‘apricity,’ it immediately resonated with me, as it captures my hopes for this practice and my clients. In short, apricity means the warmth of the sun in the winter. I know that life can be full of challenges, that at times, it can feel like we are stuck in an unending winter, waiting for spring. I hope that this practice can act as a lifeline for you, a reminder that you are not alone in your journey, that there is warmth and hope ahead of you. You are the expert in your own life, and my goal is to support you as you learn to navigate any stressors that arise.

What would be important for someone to know about working with you?

While there are many forms of talk therapy, I focus on modalities that prioritize your understanding of yourself. You are the expert in your own life, and together we can find what daily practices work best for you. Below, you can read more about the evidence-based approaches that I may use in a session.

In what ways do your life philosophy and treatment philosophy overlap?

In general, we often look beyond ourselves for external validation, trying so hard to meet the expectations of others. As a therapist, I hope to guide you toward inward reflection, so that we may discover what makes you feel happy and valued. We can begin with determining if your basic needs are being met–if you are sleeping enough, getting the proper nourishment, prioritizing movement, and finding time for meaningful connection. Once we’ve addressed these environmental and lifestyle factors, we can dive into deeper questions about your identity, values, and goals. Let’s work together to find your own version of sunshine, something that warms you no matter the season of life you find yourself in!
