In what ways do your life philosophy and treatment philosophy overlap?

One of the things that I believe in is that people can change if given the opportunity and tools to do so. Change can occur at any time throughout a lifespan- it often is not easy, and it may take quite a lot of effort, but it is always possible and it is never too late. I believe in the amazing power of meaningful activity. This comes from my occupational therapy background where we know that activity can bring meaning to our lives, improve our mood, reduce stress, and even help us live longer, healthier lives. We are made to be active. Whether it is at work, at home, or even doing a hobby that we enjoy, these activities can help you to heal. This is why I will often assign homework of some sort for you to do between sessions. I believe in living a balanced life. I love this concept! I am by no means an expert on it, but I think it's important to balance work life and home life, to balance our emotions, to balance our food and exercise, and even to balance our need to help others with our need to take care of ourselves. This can and will look different for every single person, and that's OK. We are all individuals with our own values and needs. These are some of the ideas and themes that I bring into my work with people so that you can become your authentic self.

Work History

I have been working with adults for 30+ years, first as a mental health therapist, and then more recently as an occupational therapist. Because of this, I have experience working with adults of all ages and with all sorts of different physical, emotional, substance use, and mental issues. I know that it can be really scary starting therapy with someone you don't know, so I work really hard to try and make it as easy as possible for you by supporting you every step of the way. whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, a history of trauma, or just plain struggling, I can help you learn the tools you need to live a healthier, happier life.
