Work HistoryDuring my college years, I had the invaluable experience of interning at a group home for teenage girls dealing with a range of challenges, including mental health issues and extensive trauma. This experience ignited my passion for working with young people, particularly those transitioning from adolescence to young adulthood. In that role, I engaged the girls through creative writing, group activities, and cooking, and I was deeply inspired by the transformative progress we made together. Witnessing their growth and the impact of our therapeutic and group sessions solidified my belief in the power of connection and therapy. As I moved into grad school, I carried this foundation with me, eager to deepen my understanding and skills. My first role as a therapist was at Dallas College, where I worked with a diverse group of college students facing various challenges. This role was particularly meaningful as it allowed me to support members of the LGBTQ+ community, a group I am proud to be part of. My background in gender studies, focusing on identity and intersectionality, enriched my personal growth and has been instrumental in my approach as a therapist. Following that, I dedicated time to working with domestic violence survivors. This was both fulfilling and challenging, and it deepened my empathy and resilience. After graduating, I transitioned to working in crisis intervention, where I support individuals experiencing severe psychological distress, including those in psychosis or dealing with suicidal thoughts. This high-intensity environment has honed my skills in crisis management and provided me with a wealth of experience. Most recently, I've had the pleasure of working with teenagers on probation. This role has been particularly rewarding due to the dynamic and hopeful nature of the young people I work with. Their energy and potential inspire me every day, and I am excited to continue supporting them in their journeys. Now, working at Ellie, I am excited to continue to build on my experience.
