Get To Know Me
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
My path to becoming a therapist was a little meandering. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with all of my interests and motivation in lifespan learning. All of the work I had done early on was focused on helping and supporting others. I worked with families and children for over 10 years, worked with human services processing snap, tanf, medicaid, 9-11 dispatch, APS, CPS, Intensive In Home, Outpatient therapies. I have been an educator and supervisor for the field for 5 years now. Personally, I have a family and grew up with a lot of Military experiences. I have a passion for learning, resourcing, and connecting people with resources.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Reality Therapy, Existential Therapy, Developmental Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Multicultural Therapy, Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Grounding, Meditation, Play Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Trauma informed, Emotional Maturity Theory (EMT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), strength based strategies and therapies, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Feminist Therapy, psychoanalysis, motivational interviewing.
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
Working with me, you can expect frequent check ins, someone willing to collaborate, someone who is happy to work with others in every capasity. Counseling really centers around building, strenthening, and repairing relationships. This is central to my practice. I'm very easy going and go with the flow within reason. I also provide practical skills, education, resources, and lists to help apply from even the first session. I'm here as a support and try to create an environment where sessions are looked forward to.
