What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
My motivation to become a therapist is deeply rooted in both my professional experiences and my personal lived experiences, particularly in the areas of death and dying and foster care. From an early point in my life, I witnessed how loss, grief, and instability can profoundly impact individuals and families. These experiences shaped my understanding of resilience and the importance of having consistent, supportive relationships during times of uncertainty.
Through both personal and professional exposure to foster care, I developed a strong awareness of the challenges faced by children and families navigating complex systems. I saw firsthand the effects of trauma, disruption, and the need for compassionate, skilled support.
These experiences led me to pursue a career in social work and ultimately clinical practice. They continue to inform my approach today—grounding my work in empathy, authenticity, and a deep respect for each client’s story. I am committed to creating a space where individuals feel understood, supported, and empowered to heal and grow.

Education
Marywood University, Master of Social Work, Social Work, 2000 — As a Master of Social Work student at Marywood University, I developed a strong foundation in clinical practice, ethics, and social justice. My training emphasized a person-in-environment perspective, recognizing how individual experiences are shaped by family systems, community, and larger societal factors.
I gained skills in assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based interventions, along with experience working with diverse populations across the lifespan. My education also reinforced the importance of trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and advocacy, particularly for underserved and system-involved individuals.
Through both coursework and field experiences, I strengthened my ability to build therapeutic relationships, apply theory to practice, and support clients in creating meaningful, sustainable change.
