Work HistoryDr. Jesse Smith began his clinical career at the University of Alabama, where he worked in an on-campus substance use treatment program for students during his clinical internship of his master's program. He helped development the family program, taught psychoeducational classes about substance use, and co-facilitated group therapy and saw individual and family clients. After completing his master's in marriage and family therapy, he pursued his PhD at Texas Tech University where he researched substance use and other therapy interventions as well as practiced in the on-campus clinic seeing couples, individuals, and families. For his doctoral internship, Dr. Smith moved to Philadelphia to work with Dr. Guy Diamond at Drexel University to continue research and learn Attachment-Based Family Therapy. Upon graduation, Dr. Smith continued to work part-time at Drexel in the Couple and Family Therapy Program as an adjunct professor and supervisor. Dr. Smith then worked for two years at Child Guidance Resource Centers as a family-based therapist, where he served the Philadelphia community through intensive home- and community-based family therapy for children and adolescents displaying social, emotional and behavioral disorders and for their families. Since 2021, Dr. Smith has had his own private practice serving the Philadelphia and greater Pennsylvania community.
