Get To Know Me
In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
I experienced depression and anxiety as an adolescent when there was still a significant stigma for these issues. I had a particularly hard time adjusting to college because I went far away from home where winter was very long. When I discovered psychology for my major and connected with a warm, kind therapist, I was able to better understand myself and know I wanted to help others in the same way. I'm a creative thinker, and I experience emotions deeply; therefore, I knew I wanted to focus on out-of-the-box strategies to help others feel their feelings in a safe space. I also knew I wanted to use the therapy relationship to heal after I became familiar (and in love with) Carl Rogers person-centered therapy. In addition to spending my career assisting other people through their trauma recovery, I have been collecting my own survivor experiences as well. I am a proud breast cancer survivor and single mother. I use my own survivorship and the countless testimonies of other survivors to fuel my passion for helping others move past their most difficult days. As a trauma-informed care expert, I respect, appreciate, and acknowledge the impact of every person's individual life experiences, as well as the value from diverse identities and groups.

Work HistoryI have spent 15 years working with people of all ages who have experienced the worst days of their lives--traumas of all types. I use a blend of evidence-based therapy (like EMDR), neurobiological principles, and most importantly, the strength of the therapy relationship to guide you towards healing and recovery so you can live your best life.
My clients appreciate my humanistic approach, which acknowledges you are the expert of you! I love to be curious and creative in my approach to better understand you so I can tailor treatment to your unique experiences and perspectives.
I will never see you as a problem, diagnosis, or label. I know you have been doing the best you can and where you are now is because of what happened to you--not what is "wrong" with you.
