Get To Know Me
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
My own healing journey is what allows me to be the therapist I am and show up as fully as I do. The reality is, healers have to do their own work first. And it’s an ongoing process, absolutely! When I was in college, I fell into a major depression with panic, general anxiety, insomnia, and dissociation to boot. I had unresolved family trauma that coincided with huge life stressors and transitions and I didn’t know how to handle it. I am also highly emotional, highly sensitive, and an empath—and at the time I had no clue what any of that meant or how to take care of myself. This intense episode forced me to take time off, seek therapy for the first time, and reroute my life. I believe our challenges can help us grow and shape our lives in a positive direction, if we’re willing to face them head on. Although I didn't know it then, that really difficult time in my life led me to a round of deep healing and a desire to help others heal. That’s when I decided to become a therapist.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I bring a very caring, curious energy. I’m not the type of therapist to just sit back and listen. In our sessions, I’m deeply attuned and engaged. I reflect back to you often, offering insights and suggestions, and sometimes challenge thoughts and patterns that no longer serve. In addition to processing via talk therapy, I might suggest role play, automatic writing, parts work, inner child healing, visualizations, art therapy, body talk etc. Leading trauma experts agree that we have to connect with the right brain (your creative, emotional brain) to be able to fully heal trauma and wounded parts. So let’s talk, yes, but let’s also explore your experience in other ways.
I also want to say that I’m very receptive to feedback—I want to know how it’s all landing with you. We can experiment together to learn what best supports you & your growth!
