What do you view as a key component of the therapeutic relationship?
The therapeutic relationship is the foundation of everything I do. While I value evidence-based approaches and thoughtfully integrate a variety of therapeutic modalities, I believe lasting change happens within the context of a safe, trusting, and authentic relationship. Before any technique can be effective, clients need to feel genuinely seen, understood, and accepted without judgment.
I strive to create a space where every part of you is welcome—where curiosity replaces shame, vulnerability is met with compassion, and healing can unfold at a pace that feels safe. My role is not to "fix" you, but to walk alongside you as we make sense of your experiences, honor your strengths, and work toward the life you want to create.
To me, therapy is more than the interventions we use. It is a collaborative relationship built on trust, honesty, and connection, and I believe that relationship is one of the most powerful catalysts for healing.
How has your particular field of specialization evolved in recent years and how has that impacted your work?
One of the most meaningful shifts in trauma therapy has been moving away from asking, "What's wrong with you?" toward asking more importantly, "How did your mind and body adapt to survive?" As our understanding of trauma has evolved, there has been greater recognition of the roles the nervous system, attachment, identity, culture, and relationships play in healing. Rather than viewing symptoms as problems to eliminate, we increasingly understand them as adaptive responses that once served a protective purpose.
This evolution has deeply influenced my work. While I value evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, I also integrate somatic therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and mindfulness to support healing that addresses the whole person rather than symptoms alone. I strive to help clients understand their experiences with curiosity instead of self-judgment, recognizing that lasting change often comes through building safety, self-compassion, and a trusting therapeutic relationship. My goal is not simply to reduce distress, but to help clients reconnect with themselves in a way that feels authentic, sustainable, and empowering.
If there was one thing you wish people knew about the therapy experience who might be hesitant to try it, what would that be?
Therapy isn't about convincing you that something is wrong with you. It's about creating a space where you don't have to perform, produce, or have all the answers. You don't have to wait until you're falling apart to deserve support. In my experience, the people who benefit most from therapy are often those who have spent years appearing like they have everything together while silently carrying more than anyone realizes.
If you're a high-functioning professional, you may believe therapy is only for people in crisis—or that because you're successful, you're "doing fine." In reality, many people I work with are thriving in their careers while quietly carrying chronic stress, burnout, emotional exhaustion, or a growing sense of disconnection. They've learned to push through, solve problems, and take care of everyone else, often at the expense of themselves.
Seeking therapy isn't a sign that you've failed—it's an investment in living and leading in a way that is more sustainable, authentic, and aligned with the life you actually want.

Work HistoryMy path to becoming a therapist has given me the opportunity to work with people at many different stages of healing. Before becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, I spent over a decade in the wellness field teaching yoga and meditation, where I developed a deep appreciation for the connection between the mind and body.
As a therapist, I have worked with adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship concerns, sexuality, and major life transitions. My experience at Sierra Tucson has allowed me to support clients with complex trauma and co-occurring concerns in an intensive treatment setting, deepening my understanding of how trauma, relationships, and the nervous system influence healing. I have also provided education to fellow clinicians on topics including sexual identity and sexual health, reflecting my commitment to affirming, sex-positive care.
Today, I bring these experiences together in my private practice, where I help individuals and couples move beyond simply managing symptoms toward deeper healing, greater self-understanding, and meaningful, lasting change through a warm, collaborative, and holistic approach.
