Work History

Who I am: Hi, I’m Julia—a trauma-informed IFS and EMDR therapist, the daughter of a Chinese immigrant, a goofball, a world traveler, and someone who has experienced the transformative power of therapy. Therapy gave me the space to feel my emotions, heal from childhood trauma, and discover my authentic self. Having gone through this process myself, I understand how challenging and rewarding this journey can be. It was through my own healing that I realized how deeply I wanted to become a therapist—to guide others through their own process of healing, self-discovery, and transformation. My own experience fuels my passion for supporting others in navigating their journeys with compassion, empathy, and care. I believe that healing is a deeply personal journey, and as your therapist, I’m here to walk alongside you every step of the way. Our work together will be rooted in understanding and trust, with a focus on creating a safe space for you to explore your emotions, make sense of your experiences, and heal at your own pace. Whether it’s through IFS, EMDR, mindfulness, or somatic practices, we’ll work together to uncover the roots of your challenges and build a compassionate relationship with yourself. I’m here to help you gain clarity, build confidence, cultivate self-compassion, and support you in making lasting, positive changes in your life <3 Who I work with: Does any of this feel familiar? You're afraid to face the deeper emotions beneath the surface. Sitting with your feelings feels impossible, so you turn to analyzing or fixing as a way to cope. Your inner critic drowns out your emotions with harsh judgments, making self-compassion feel unattainable. You’re beginning to notice how past family dynamics or relationships are fueling your current anxiety or low mood. Relationships feel complicated and overwhelming, leaving you asking, “Why can’t I just move on?” or “What’s wrong with me?” You tend to be very self-aware and intellectualize your emotions, but struggle to actually feel them or connect with the deeper emotional experience. You're afraid to show up as your authentic self, fearing judgment or rejection from others. You find yourself overthinking and struggling to connect with your emotions, feeling stuck in your head. Anxiety, perfectionism, and the need for control are constant challenges in your life I understand this struggle deeply because I’ve walked a similar road myself. Through my own healing journey, I’ve learned the power of gentleness, patience, and self-compassion. I bring not only my professional knowledge but also lived experience to guide you through the ups and downs of healing. I’m committed to walking beside you, honoring your pace, and supporting you as you navigate this transformative journey toward a more authentic and connected life. How I work: As a trauma-informed IFS therapist, I combine parts work, somatic practices, mindfulness, and relational dynamics to help you develop a compassionate, authentic relationship with yourself. This approach is grounded in curiosity, kindness, confidence, and creativity—creating a safe and nurturing space where you can explore the different aspects of who you are. IFS allows us to address the parts of you that may be holding pain, fear, or unprocessed emotions, and gently bring them into a place of healing and integration. In addition to IFS, I incorporate EMDR when appropriate, offering a powerful tool to help you safely process and release deep-rooted emotions, trauma, and memories. My priority is always your safety, ensuring that we move at a pace that feels right for you and preventing any retraumatization. Therapy is a collaborative partnership, and I believe that finding the right fit is key to your healing. Together, we’ll explore your unique needs, challenges, and goals to determine what will support you best. My commitment is to create a safe, inclusive, and socially conscious space, where your individual identity is respected, and all aspects of your experience are validated. I approach our work through an anti-oppressive lens, recognizing the importance of social, cultural, and systemic factors in your journey. This work is not easy, but it is profoundly transformative. By leaning into the lessons that arise from life’s challenges, you can foster a deeper, more compassionate connection with yourself and others, unlocking meaningful, lasting change. If you feel that I might be a good fit to support you on this journey, please reach out for a free 15-minute consultation. I’m here to walk alongside you as you work toward healing and growth.
