What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
My path toward counseling and social work grew from two main roots. The first was growing up in a military family and later serving as a reservist in the U.S. Army, where I saw up close both the weight of trauma and the strength of resilience. The second came from my own experience living with undiagnosed ADHD as a child, often feeling out of step in school until I finally received support in college. That turning point changed my life, showing me how the right guidance and understanding can open new possibilities. Together, these experiences inspired me to devote my career to helping others find healing, support, and hope in their own journeys.

Education
Boston College, Master of Social Work, Clinical Global Practice, 2008 — As part of my Master of Social Work at Boston College, I completed the Clinical Global Practice concentration, which focused on trauma treatment, culturally responsive care, and working with diverse populations around the world. This program emphasized building skills to support people across different cultures and contexts, strengthening my ability to provide sensitive, effective care to clients from all backgrounds.
Work HistoryI earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) with a concentration in Clinical Global Practice from Boston College. With nearly twenty years of experience, my career began internationally, supporting social workers in Vietnam in addressing trauma caused by child trafficking. I went on to work at the VA and the Center for Survivors of Torture, experiences that strengthened my expertise in trauma-informed, culturally responsive care. Alongside this professional path, my own lived experience with ADHD has given me a deep respect for the many ways brains work differently, and I bring that understanding into every session.
