What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
Early on, I became fascinated by the different ways people live. I developed a particular interest in the subjective spectrum of emotions people experience when confronted with challenging life decisions. This spectrum seems to span from excitement on one end to dread or hopelessness, and paralysis on the other. Additionally, I find it intriguing how our life experiences are heavily influenced by automatic thoughts followed by emotional and behavioral responses that we might be able to recalibrate. It also appears that we require some kind of meaning to endure all the inevitable physical and emotional pain we experience throughout our lives. We are both tough and fragile at the same time. I wanted to become part of the process of helping people move forward in their lives.
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
I do my best to tell the truth, even if there is a chance it may hurt. I also challenge belief systems when it appears to be necessary, especially if those beliefs may be contributing to distress. While I strive to be nonjudgmental, I acknowledge that this can be challenging. If you sense that I am judging you and confront me about it, I will tell you the truth, and we can have a conversation. Similarly, if I sense that I am judging you, I will express my thoughts and feelings on the matter. If we are both honest, we may learn about each other and ourselves, gaining insight into our interactions with people in the world. I will ask you for feedback on our sessions, with the hope that you will be brave enough to provide it.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
You don't need to feel ashamed of your anxiety or depression. Express yourself freely without fear of judgment—I'll respect your boundaries. With expertise in anxiety and depression since 2021, I offer a direct, solution-focused approach. Together, we'll uncover the root causes of your distress and develop strategies for regaining control over your thoughts and behaviors. I'm here to support you through your challenges. Together, let’s work towards making your life better. In tackling Anxiety, I utilize a CBT approach to untangle the web of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. We delve into root causes of anxiety, exploring lifestyle changes and adopting coping strategies. I also emphasize the pursuit of a meaning-centered life, helping clients find purpose and direction amidst their struggles with anxiety. With Depression, I follow a CBT framework exploring the interplay of thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and consequences. Together, we unearth underlying triggers for depression and consider lifestyle adjustments. I also guide clients toward finding meaning in life, fostering a sense of purpose as they navigate their journey toward wellness.

While earning my MSW, I became a competent and compassionate professional specializing in advanced clinical practice. Through evidence-based practices, I learned to work effectively with diverse populations, including children, adolescents, adults, elders, couples, families, and groups. Developing critical thinking skills and engaging in evidence-based clinical practice, I prioritized recognizing and leveraging human strengths. My program instilled in me a commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.
Work History
In my role as a psychotherapist, I've developed expertise in evaluating clients and working closely with them to establish personalized goals. I specialize in implementing therapeutic interventions using a person-centered approach, even in telehealth settings. As an adjunct instructor, I taught human services classes to groups, maintaining a structured syllabus and preparing engaging lectures, activities, and assignments. This experience provided me access to college research databases, allowing me to spend time researching topics using numerous academic journals, enhancing my knowledge in various areas related to mental health and social services. Additionally, as a school social worker, I collaborated with parents and special education staff to create individualized education plans and provide appropriate mental health services to students. This role allowed me to develop expertise in addressing the unique needs of students within educational settings and further honed my skills in collaboration and advocacy.
