Get To Know Me
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I use an eclectic approach to therapy, meaning that I pull from a variety of different approaches to meet your needs. Primarily, I utilize elements of CBT and DBT, EMDR, and motivational interviewing.
What do you view as a key component of the therapeutic relationship?
The most important part of therapy in my opinion is the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client. Without that, it is hard to get much work done. I strive to build rapport with my clients on the front end, before deciding on interventions and modalities to work with.
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
I don't know how to do therapy without using my personality! I think on TV we often see mental health professionals as robots - I want you to know that I'm a person too! If you tell me you watched a movie yesterday, you best believe I'll ask you for a review on it to see if I want to watch it too! I like to take the sterility out of therapy. Therapy is hard work, but I want to make you as comfortable with me as possible.
