What would be important for someone to know about working with you?

I specialize in working with Highly Sensitive Persons on challenges like stress, overwhelm, and overstimulation. Mindfulness Based Somatic Psychotherapy draws from the principle that “what the mind suppresses the body expresses.” Somaticizing (experiencing suppressed emotions in the form of physical symptoms) is behind many a seemingly physical problem. Through sensations, the body is constantly giving us information about what is happening deep in the psyche. Somatic psychotherapy allows us to learn the language of the body and decode its messages in order to find our way into a greater sense of health, presence, and well-being. I ask clients to find a "felt sense" of their problem. Then we work to articulate what this felt sense is really all about. What is it trying to tell you? It's quicker than normal talk therapy because the body holds the truth of the story of our biography, even and especially the parts we are unconscious of. Bringing what is unconscious into awareness of what growth and healing are all about.

Transpersonal literally means "beyond the personality." In other words, beyond the mask. This approach to counseling is ultimately about finding the real you that exists beyond all of your conditioning and training.

Work History

I am the founder and owner of the practice Durango Walk and Talk and Telehealth Therapy. I offer in person sessions in the great outdoors and virtual sessions online or by phone. I have held this practice for nearly 5 years. Doing therapy outside in the office of nature is my specialty, yet in this day and age of figuring out how to do things long distance, often when meeting with clients for telehealth sessions we each find individual spots to be outside in nature (also fine to be inside). Previously I worked for Open Sky Wilderness Therapy in Durango Colorado, the Southern Colorado Community Action Agency in Durango, and the Evolutionary Power Institute in Boulder.
