What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

From my second year in college, my path to becoming a social worker was crystal clear. It's been my sole career, and it's truly meant the world to me to have the privilege of authentically supporting others on their journeys. While I've had diverse experiences in aiding others, I've found my niche lies in assisting individuals in processing and overcoming breakups or divorces. Throughout my career, I've worked across various settings, including clinics, private practice, large national mental health organizations, hospitals, and group telehealth practices. Yet, it's consistently been guiding clients through the process of rebuilding their lives and navigating grief from relationship loss that has resonated most deeply with me. As a child of divorce who has also experienced divorce firsthand, I'm deeply committed to reshaping the narrative and empowering my clients to navigate heartbreak while discovering their new life rhythms. Helping others find strength and healing amidst relationship challenges is where my passion and expertise truly shine.

In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?

As a divorce therapist, my journey is deeply intertwined with the experiences of divorce. Growing up in a divorced family and later navigating my own collaborative divorce as an adult have profoundly shaped my perspective and approach to counseling. It was through these personal experiences that I discovered my calling to assist others in their own journeys of separation, divorce, or breakup. With this in mind, I founded Change of Plans Therapy, a sanctuary aimed at providing compassionate support during challenging times. Drawing from my therapeutic expertise and firsthand knowledge, my mission is to ease the burdens of suffering, anxiety, and grief that often accompany such transitions. My personal encounters with divorce imbue my practice with empathy, understanding, and a genuine desire to facilitate healing. I recognize the complexities and emotions involved in the process, and I strive to create a safe space where clients can feel heard, validated, and empowered to navigate their own paths forward. In every session, I blend professional guidance with personal insight, fostering a warm and trusting environment conducive to growth and resilience. Together, we explore strategies for coping, finding closure, and embracing new beginnings with renewed optimism and strength. If you're seeking support during this challenging time, I invite you to embark on this journey with me. Together, we can navigate the complexities of divorce and emerge stronger, wiser, and ready to embrace the next chapter of your life.
