Get To Know Me
What does a first session with you look like?
In our very first session, we complete an Intake Assessment together. I get to ask you a lot of questions about various aspects of your history and to find out what your therapeutic needs are. You get to ask me questions too. I explain to you how I typically approach trauma work and we decide on what you want to work on in therapy and how you want to go about that.
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
The origins of my work as a trauma therapist are rooted in my own journey of healing from childhood trauma. This work was life changing for me. I have a deep belief that human beings naturally want to heal given the right opportunity and supports. I am passionate about my work as a trauma specialist. I want to extend to fellow trauma survivors the skills and means to recover.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I take a collaborative approach to therapy. I want to have power WITH you not OVER you in your journey. I believe it is y. I want to know as we progress how therapy is going for you, whether you feel you are improving, and whether there is anything you would like to change about therapy. I believe in empowering people with information regarding the neuroscience of trauma, typically in the beginning of therapy. And from there I take an eclectic approach, drawing from several modalities designed to support you as an individual.
