What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
Growing up with childhood struggles with very little support for mental health, I became interested in helping and healing professions early on. While finishing my master's in counseling at Missouri State University, I served as a career counselor and academic advisor through a graduate assistantship. I loved working with students and went on to spend 13 years in the school setting, working with teens and families. While working in schools, I saw a huge need for treating mental health and started working on my license in professional counseling, gaining experience counseling children in foster care and people recovering from addiction. Over time, through experience and specialized training, my focus became faith-based mental health therapy for women, parents, and teens experiencing anxiety and depression. Now, as a mom of four with two of my own children adopted from foster care, I especially enjoy helping other parents and those hoping to soon become parents.
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
Through whatever struggles you are facing, my goal is to help you cope with challenges, gain clarity, improve your relationships, find joy, and, overall, feel better. My approach is client-led, meeting you where you are and personalizing your therapy based on your needs after getting to know you and building trust. I use a style that’s calm, kind, genuine, and engaging. I use a faith-based approach in therapy. My faith as a Christian has helped me get through many of my own life struggles and challenges. Faith is an important part of who people are and I have found it to be helpful to incorporate it into therapy. How faith is addressed in therapy and how often it’s incorporated into sessions depends on the client, where they are in their own faith journey, and their needs. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking about their faith and their beliefs as they work toward being the best version of themselves that God created them to be.

Work History
If you're looking to feel calmer and more self-assured, I would love to help! I believe God gave each person the wisdom and ability to bring out the part of them that's brave, kind, strong and resilient. My approach is client-led in a non-judgmental space to help you discover your own solutions in a style that's calm, kind, and engaging. I see ages 7 and up, and my specialty is working with anxious women and adolescents. My training and experience also include parenting, perinatal/postpartum mental health, conflict resolution, life and career transitions, exploration of faith, and emotional regulation in children. I'm a working mom of four wonderful children, with two of them adopted from foster care. I can relate to many parenting challenges and stress. Parenting is hard and I enjoy helping others navigate parenthood and explore creative solutions. I also have worked in a school setting for over 14 years and have a passion for working with students and educators. Together we will develop strategies that enable you to balance family responsibilities with your own self-care needs, career, and relationships. I also love working with teens and young adults who may have a difficult time adjusting to life transitions - such as moving, preparing for college, adjusting to life after high school, career changes, relationships ending or progressing, loss of a loved one, etc. These clients often benefit from support with anxiety, depression, friendships, relationships, assertiveness and self-esteem. Whatever you're facing, you don't have to do it alone. While you're the expert on your life, my job is to offer you a safe place to explore your feelings and learn to trust yourself. We can work together to help you feel more at ease in life and empowered to move forward while being kind to yourself.
