Under Clinical Supervision

Katy Halverson, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, R9789 is practicing under the supervision of Hannah Bloombaum (Oregon, LMHC, C5509) at Portal Wellness Collective.

Please, note: A clinician listed as being “clinically supervised” is completing clinical hours toward their licensure. They have one or more fully licensed clinical supervisors that often have special training to become supervisors. They consult with their supervisor(s) on all of their cases, which means that, when working with them, you are getting the time and expertise of multiple therapists in your treatment.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I'm a relational therapist who values your expertise on your own experiences. I employ humor and am down to earth while providing perspective and guidance as we tackle life’s challenges. I utilize IFS, Attachment (EFT), Gottman, Experiential, and Existential Humanism.

What does a first session with you look like?

Before we begin working together, clients are welcome to schedule a free 15-minute consultation with me to determine if we'd be a good fit. From that point, I like to start with a full comprehensive assessment during the first session so I can gather more information about you and what is bringing you to therapy. Our first few sessions will be focused on discussing your goals and hopes for therapy and to create a plan that will guide our work together.

If you could pick one movie or book that influenced your approach to therapy, what would it be and why?

"No Bad Parts" by Dr. Richard Schwartz I recommend this book to clients, friends, and fellow therapists who are interested in deepening self-compassion and improving the relationship you have with yourself. It provides a comprehensive overview of IFS, which is a model I utilize in my practice.
