Work HistoryI began my career as an early childhood educator, working as a Birth-Kindergarten teacher. I worked in the classroom for 5 years. I was deeply inspired by the classroom, students, parents, and working with family interactions. While teaching, I also worked for a non-profit supporting low-income families, primarily serving kids and teens, and spent 3 years in the non-profit environment. In the classroom, I was able to watch in real time how, when we are given the right space and proper support, we have great potential for healthy and secure growth. As I supported children and teenagers in challenging living situations and throughout COVID, I got to witness the power one safe adult can have in young people's lives. I became a stay-at-home parent and remained a full-time Grad student for 18 months before starting my clinical hours at a Winston-Salem Private Practice. During my time at home, I was humbled by the amount of unpaid domestic labor that is put into making a safe, secure, and functional home environment. Through that, I gained a new respect and understanding for what it takes to be a caretaker and a stay-at-home parent. When I began my clinical internship, I gained my footing as a therapist on the clinical side and was given the opportunity to learn the business side as well. With a variety of experience, great mentors, and a strong clinical supervisor, I confidently moved forward with opening my own solo private practice where I now get to apply all the various experiences I've had throughout the years into my therapy practice.
