Get To Know Me
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I was an elementary school teacher and saw the struggle a number of my students had with family issues. I needed to get my masters and decided I might be able to help more if I could help families function better. If families functioned better then students would have a better start or be able to concentrate in school better.
In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
I came from a very dysfunctional home. I feel that I am able to empathize with many of my clients and the life situations they find themselves in due to the variety of experiences I have had from childhood, through teaching, raising my own children, divorcing, and now my encore career as a therapist.
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
This one is funny! I am not for everyone as I have been told I am kind of bombastic! I have a lot of energy for therapy. I might not have it for many other areas of my life due to my health concerns, but I love people. They bring out the best in me and I want to feed back that energy to them in any way I can.
