In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
I identify as a Highly Sensitive Person myself, and I have my own experience navigating my sensitivity. This has given me a deep understanding for the sensitive experience and a passion for supporting other HSPs. I have my own process of self-care, self-exploration, and creative expression that help me navigate the world. I value quiet time to reflect, journaling, art making, and time spent with loved ones.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
In therapy, we work together to process the hurt and loneliness you may feel. We work to shift how you see yourself and improve your self-worth. We work to decrease perfectionism, depression, and anxiety symptoms, all of which are common experiences of highly sensitive people. We'll use art therapy to work on your goals and support your self-expression.
What are some the unique issues faced by clients in your particular field of specialization, in terms of mental health education, care, and/or treatment?
Common experiences of Highly Sensitive People include:
-feeling overwhelmed easily
-others calling you "too sensitive"
-others saying that you're "overreacting"
-struggling to make decisions
-struggling to manage day-to-day tasks
-needing quiet time to recharge
-feeling "too emotional"
-wondering "Is there something wrong with me?"
In therapy, HSPs typically benefit from exploring the inner critic and self-talk, reframing beliefs about self, developing healthy boundaries, and learning to honor their needs.
