What do you view as a key component of the therapeutic relationship?
I believe authenticity is a key component to the therapeutic relationship for the client and as a clinician. Showing up to the counseling session as our authentic selves allows the natural flow of the therapeutic process to unfold. Open and honest communication helps build a trusting rapport and allows for deeper therapeutic work to be explored.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I primarily utilize Lifespan Integration Therapy with a mixture of traditional talk therapy.
Lifespan Integration (LI) engages the entire body-mind and offers clients a more effective alternative to traditional talk therapies. LI utilizes repetitions of a somatosensory Timeline to clear past trauma and heal attachment deficits. This gentle and highly effective body-mind modality, rooted in neuroscience, facilitates rapid healing and reminds our entire system that we have survived our past and are well-resourced in this present moment. Clients who have completed Lifespan Integration therapy report they are calmer, less reactive, and better able to enjoy their lives and relationships.
What to expect - A timeline of short memory cues are created at the start of therapy which will be the main tool during the LI process. The clinician will repeat the timeline of memories over and over to promote neural integration and calm the nervous system. It is through this repetition process that new insights, deeper internal peace and a solid sense of self are developed. Specific traumas can be targeted and sometimes the symptoms can be neutralized after just one or two sessions of LI. Relationships and painful memories can also be targeted to gain broader perspectives and calm activation in the body's nervous system regarding past experiences.
