What is your style/approach to therapy?

Though informed by evidenced based practices I have training in, such as DBT, ACT, RO-DBT, CFT, and CPT, I try to blend each of these to be the best fit for a client and their individual needs and not get too stuck in a theoretical orientation.

What would be important for someone to know about working with you?

My values are important - and I will want to know yours! It is often one of the first exercises I ask clients to do with me. My top three are genuineness, knowledge, and creativity.

In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?

I am an introvert and tend to come off as quiet and a little more intellectual than is comfortable for some. That said, being open and compassionate and mindful are very important to me so I like to think that clients will never feel judged and always know that I will be honest with them. Sometimes, clients think I am too blunt or play devil's advocate too much, but I see my role as someone outside of your daily experiences trying to give a different perspective to help people change - and change is always a bit uncomfortable.

Work History

I have been working with clients struggling with eating disorders throughout my career, starting with community mental health and continuing through outpatient, IOP, PHP, and inpatient levels of care. I am a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS-S) and approved supervisor by the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp). I recognize that eating disorders are a complicated set of illnesses that intersect with depression, trauma, anxiety, and have an immeasurable impact on life overall for clients struggling with them. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is the therapeutic approach I use the most, but I also use Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) consistently. I am a certified Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) therapist through Evergreen Certification Institute, and a Certified Program Educator for the Gottman Institute’s “Seven Principles Program” for couples as well.
