Get To Know Me
What does a first session with you look like?
Our very first meeting lays the groundwork for the progress you'll be making in counseling. We’ll begin by discussing your reasons for seeking therapy and any immediate concerns you may have. This conversation helps me understand your unique situation, goals, and what you're hoping to achieve through our work together. I'll ask questions to gather relevant background information, but the pace and depth are entirely up to your comfort level. We’ll also review some logistical aspects about counseling, such as confidentiality and scheduling. By the end of the session, we’ll have a clearer sense of direction for our work together, setting the foundation for your therapeutic journey.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I believe that therapy should be an engaging and even enjoyable process. While we'll tackle some challenging emotions and work through difficult issues, therapy should feel like a collaborative and supportive process. I generally draw on empirically supported interventions like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and the Gottman Method to guide our work, ensuring that our approach is both effective and tailored to your unique needs.

Work HistoryI was very fortunate to get a job at an outstanding community mental health clinic in Chapel Hill, NC shortly after I completed graduate school. There, I received the quality training and supervision that has been the foundation of my work. I opened my own private practice in 2003, and have enjoyed supporting individuals, couples and co-parents ever since.
My 25+ years of experience helping children, young adults, and families, has provided me with a diverse and unique skillset. It’s a privilege to have clients entrust me to support them during difficult times.
