Get To Know Me
What is your style/approach to therapy?
My approach to therapy is collaborative, respectful, and practical. I try to create a space where clients can speak honestly, feel understood, and work on meaningful change without feeling judged or rushed. I do not believe therapy should feel cold, clinical, or one-size-fits-all.
I listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and help clients better understand the patterns, experiences, and emotions that may be affecting their lives. Depending on the client’s needs, our work may include processing painful experiences, building coping skills, improving communication, challenging unhelpful thought patterns, strengthening self-worth, or identifying realistic next steps. I believe therapy works best when clients feel both supported and gently challenged in a way that helps them grow.
What does a first session with you look like?
A first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin understanding what brings you to therapy. I will ask about what has been going on, what you are hoping to change, what has helped or not helped in the past, and what feels most important for me to understand about you. You do not have to have everything figured out before you come in.
My goal in the first session is to help you feel comfortable, heard, and respected. We will talk at a pace that feels manageable, and I will explain the therapy process clearly so you know what to expect. By the end of the session, we will usually have a better sense of your main concerns, your goals, and how therapy may be helpful moving forward.
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
It is important to know that I take therapy seriously, but I also try to be approachable and easy to talk to. I want clients to feel that they can be honest with me, including about things that may feel difficult, embarrassing, confusing, or painful. I do not see therapy as a place for judgment. I see it as a place for understanding, healing, and honest work.
Clients can expect me to be attentive, respectful, affirming, and direct when needed. I value open communication, so I welcome feedback about what is helpful, what is not, and what clients need more or less of in therapy. My goal is to help clients feel supported while also helping them move toward greater insight, stability, confidence, and self-compassion.

Work HistoryMy clinical experience has been shaped by working with people during some of the most difficult and meaningful periods of their lives. Over the years, I have worked with clients facing depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, ADHD, grief, relationship concerns, workplace stress, identity-related issues, and major life transitions. That work has taught me that people rarely come to therapy for one simple reason. Most people are carrying a combination of stress, pain, uncertainty, old wounds, and hopes for something better.
Before opening my private practice, I spent many years providing mental health care in clinical settings where I worked with a wide range of clients and concerns. Those experiences helped me develop a grounded, practical, and compassionate approach to therapy. I learned how important it is to listen closely, ask the right questions, avoid assumptions, and understand the whole person—not just a diagnosis or a set of symptoms.
My work has also given me significant experience supporting clients who feel overwhelmed, stuck, misunderstood, or disconnected from themselves. I often work with people who are trying to make sense of their past, improve their relationships, manage anxiety or depression, recover from trauma, or build a life that feels more authentic and stable.
In my private practice, A Healthier You Counseling Center, PLLC, I continue to focus on providing therapy that is respectful, inclusive, affirming, and individualized. I work with adolescents ages 13 and up and adults, and I am especially committed to creating a space where clients feel safe enough to be honest, supported enough to keep going, and challenged enough to grow.
