What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I began my social work career in 2018, specializing in participatory action research aimed to address youth homelesness in the Richmond and Tri City areas of Virginia. I continue to engage in this work, and have had my findings published in research journals as well as presented on a local, national, and federal based level. I strive to combine my clinical and policy based experience to destigmatize and mental and behavioral health issues in marginalized communities, address treatment gaps, provide accessible, affirming, and quality care to those who have been historically underserved.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I offer a different way to help people with their mental health by thinking outside of traditional norms and challenging the usual ways that mental health is treated. I believe that everyone has the right to make their own choices and feel empowered in their own lives. I don't judge people for their past or present choices as we work together to address the root causes of trauma, while also grounding our work in community harm repair and resilience.
