What does a first session with you look like?
In our first session together, you can expect a supportive, judgment free conversation where we explore what's bringing you in, clarify your goals for treatment, review relevant history and begin identifying practical next steps so you begin feeling greater clarity and direction. I focus on building a genuine and authentic relationship with you where you feel safe and welcomed. I believe a strong, trusting relationship is key to meaningful progress. I also consider the bigger picture of well being, including sleep, nutrition, movement, joy, and relationships, so you can move forward with greater insight and confidence.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I help you achieve real results by combining evidence based therapy methods with a supportive, trusting therapeutic relationship. I focus on building strong rapport so that you will feel heard and understood, while using practical, goal oriented strategies to help you feel better, think more clearly and make meaningful progress in your life.
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
With over 30 years in the mental health field, I bring a deep understanding of the therapeutic process and a strong commitment to helping people thrive. I have served as a therapist, clinical supervisor, clinical director, and adjunct professor in settings such as group homes, outpatient clinics, mental health centers, schools, and now private practice. I especially enjoy working with clients who are open to growth, even when it feels challenging. I enjoy working with clients who are open to growth and willing to look at their thoughts, emotions and patterns, even when it’s hard. I’m especially drawn to people who want to better understand themselves and are open to working together to make real, lasting changes. I also value honesty, curiosity and a willingness to be open and engaged throughout the process.
